Škoda Auto a.s.

In addition to its sales websites, Škoda Auto a.s. also operates public websites for the Škoda Museum, the Secondary Vocational School and the Polyclinic Škoda. For these non-sales channels, the client was looking for a solution (platform) that would enable unification of the look and function of these websites, and the creation of a template for rapid creation of new public websites or deployment of customizations and new functionality.

We have shortened web development process from months to a week

Lundegaard has become a partner for the migration of these three non-selling Škoda Auto websites (Museum, Polyclinic and Secondary Vocational School) into one environment on the Liferay platform, which enables very fast and simple website editing.

In addition, the platform has been created which allows the rapid creation of new public websites very easily on demand. This unification and standardisation was fully in line with Škoda Auto's digital transformation path and direction, and reduced the traditional process of several months to about a week.

Migration of websites to Liferay 7.4 platform

Until now, Škoda Auto's public websites have all been running on the same global platform and have been linked to sales channels. Due to restructuring in the company, the approach to the public websites changed and it became necessary to separate them and migrate them to a different platform.

At the same time, the aim was to unify and standardise the sites and make their management as simple as possible. The basic requirement was therefore: a very simple website, with predefined pages, where images and texts can be easily changed.

The solution was therefore to migrate the public websites to Liferay DXP (as a Service), which created a single environment for very simple content management, the platform also allows very fast creation of new websites. This has reduced the traditional web development process from months to around a week, which is a great saving in time and money.

Implementation of a new corporate identity

At the time of the contract, Škoda Auto was radically changing its corporate identity, which included a new design language and a new logo.

As part of this process, the entire Flow design system was created, which is a simple but very sophisticated system for creating websites, apps and entertainment.

The implementation teams were therefore in close contact directly with the Flow design system so that the new public websites were unified under the new corporate identity.

Web fragments for the operators

As a part of the preparation of the public websites in the new corporate identity, only visions and templates were available in the first phase, according to which we created components for the client, which were then gradually approved by the Flow system design team.

The moment the components were developed and approved, they were automatically included in the library from which the website giant could use them.

"The work of the whole team was very flexible."

"I evaluate the result very positively. The team's work was very flexible, even with the new Flow design system. The Ludegaard team worked closely together to meet our requirements and everything was within the Flow design system concept. Thus, even the public websites were included under a single corporate identity."
