Warehouse and business system for the Fundus division. The system also comprises an on-line catalogue of all offered products.
Description of the solution
To acquire these goals, Lundegaard (in intensive cooperation with Fundus division management) suggested a modular system with a core idea of inventory records. Thanks to this core idea it was possible to create an on-line catalog for the customers, that, apart from the overall offering, includes also the information about current status of individual costumes and properties in stock, and dates in which these borrowed items should be returned. At the same time, customers can create a budget, how much will the rental of chosen items for specified time cost, and to book items.
An important part of the solution was the conversion of existing “paper” records of approximately 400.000 inventory items into electronic form. The system also supports all actions regarding customer servicing, from contract signing to rental of chosen costumes or props, to billing.
The billing method can be set according to the individual needs of the customer. Luna is created in the Java environment, in the Sun ONE application server. It is run on the Sun hardware platform.
In one of the film studios divisions – in the warehouse and property rental – we wanted to reach a more efficient process, and mainly to achieve:
- cost reduction
- acquirement of new customers
- increase of earnings from existing (and future) customers
The transfer of inventory records into electronic form has brought completely new and dynamic pricing options, which should be reflected in increased earnings. Information about movement of individual stored items is a basis for a more effective costume and props portfolio control, in order to better match customers’ needs. This led to a reduction of finances tied to the stored items, and at the same time to an increase in revenues from them. These worldly unique services should lead to an increased number of customers throughout Barrandov Studios.
