We have created a mobile client zone for Cetelem to overview and manage financial transactions.
Description of the solution
The Client Zone solution is based on the functionality and use of the standard desktop version, which Cetelem customers are used to. However, the aim is not to replace it completely because from the technical point of view it is not possible send files, contracts, etc. On the other hand, the solution is designed to be a flexible alternative, and one that customers can carry around with them if they are out and about somewhere.
The Mobile Client Zone functionalities are therefore modified so that they meet typical requirements of outdoor use.
One section that was subject to intense discussion and consideration is the part that approves operations, a critical link in the whole process of using the whole Client Zone. This section features operations designed to be carried out on a mobile phone (transferring money to a specified account, topping up a credit card online, issuing electronic credit cards, and similar features). The user enters information in the easy-to-navigate list of options adapted for a mobile device, which was authorised through the user name and password. Some operations do not need to be authorised, but there are others where an additional authorisation channel needs to be used, i.e. a text message. Therefore, depending on the operation, the system sends the user an additional message, containing the authorisation code of the transaction, which the user confirms with a code contained in the message. The text is sent to the telephone number that the customer has matched to his/her account.
The system is designed in such a way that the user’s mobile number does not need to be saved in a smart telephone and therefore the code can be written again in a another piece of equipment, which authorises the required operation.
Such an arrangement is very secure and reliable, and the data is verified several times by various systems and misuse is essentially ruled out. This level of security was achieved without sacrificing user-friendliness in using the application.
Due to its nature and because money is handled the whole application underwent a detailed safety audit, which it passed.
The project aim was to create an easy to use variant of the Client Zone for Cetelem customers. In addition, the solution was to be a modern alternative to the standard (“large“) version of the Client Zone.
The result of our work is a very easy to follow and clear Client Zone, which gives customers the chance to manage and follow their Cetelem accounts. At the same time it leaves a very small data footprint and is easy to use. The Cetelem mobile website, which was launched at the end of last year and now has an important, and from Cetelem’s perspective, and strategic functionality, which through its approach makes managing accounts and handling money easier for customers.
